Email Subject: URGENT: U.S. Policy Response to War Powers Resolution
Hello,
I am writing to you as your constituent and as an Iranian-American with deep concern about the accelerating human rights crisis inside Iran and the regime’s destabilizing activities across the Middle East.
Credible reports from international human rights organizations document mass arrests, thousands imprisoned, and large-scale killings of protesters. Many detainees remain at risk of severe sentences, including execution.
I would like to ask you to oppose the War Powers Resolutions that are introduced by Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Rand Paul (R-KY) and Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie that are blocking authorization to use of force against the Islamic Republic. The regime proved that cannot be transitioned by the armless people and it is at its weakest time in history. Silence or ambiguity at this moment will only embolden further repression, empower the regime and escalates destabilization. Firm support for human rights, accountability measures, and a credible path toward democratic transition is essential not only for Iran’s future but for lasting peace in the Middle East and the United States.
The Iranian government has and continues to project instability beyond its borders through armed proxies and aggressive regional policies that threaten U.S. interests, allies, and global security.
U.S. policy toward Iran should be grounded in three clear principles:
1. Unambiguous support for the human rights and democratic aspirations of the Iranian people.
2. Accountability for officials responsible for repression and regional violence.
3. A strategy that recognizes that long-term regional stability is inseparable from the Iranian people’s right to self-determination.
Iranian people have voiced support for a peaceful transition framework with the transition leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi that would allow for a referendum and democratic process to determine the country’s future leadership and governance structure.
Thank you.
