Iranian People Are United With Ukrainian People Against the Islamic Republic

October 13, 2023

Both the Iranian and Ukrainian people have experienced oppressive regimes that have violated their basic human rights and suppressed their freedoms. The Islamic Republic of Iran has a long history of human rights abuses, including censorship, arbitrary arrests, torture, and executions. Similarly, Ukraine has faced its own struggles with Russian Invasion which is supplied and supported by Islamic Republic.

Ukraine has a long history of fighting for its independence from various external powers. The country has experienced invasions and occupations by different entities throughout its history. The most recent example is Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine. This struggle for self-determination resonates with Iranians who have also fought against foreign interventions in their own history.

The Islamic Republic is selling missiles to Russia for the purpose of invading Ukraine, it could be seen as supporting Russian expansionism. This would raise concerns not only for Ukraine but also for other countries in the region, including Iran. A united front against such actions could serve as a deterrent and promote regional stability. As the Islamic Republic’s actions threaten Ukraine’s sovereignty, it would be ethically justifiable for Iranians to support Ukrainian aspirations for independence. The Islamic Republic has faced criticism for its human rights record, including restrictions on freedom of speech, assembly, and political dissent. Supporting Ukrainian people against potential aggression could be seen as a stand for human rights and democratic values.

Collaborating against the Islamic Republic can have geopolitical implications. Iran has been known to support various proxy groups across the Middle East, including Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Shia militias in Iraq. These actions have often destabilized the region and threatened neighboring countries’ security. By joining forces with Ukrainians, Iranians can contribute to efforts aimed at countering Iran’s influence in the region and promoting stability.

Uniting against the Islamic Republic can also help foster international awareness and support for both causes. The power of collective action is often more impactful than individual efforts. By forming alliances with other oppressed populations, Iranians can attract attention from global human rights organizations, media outlets, and governments sympathetic to their cause. This increased visibility can lead to diplomatic pressure on the Iranian regime to improve its human rights record and engage in meaningful dialogue with its citizens.
