Since the death of 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in September 2022, VOI has been working tirelessly to amplify Iranian people’s voice. In response to massive requests from our community to hold Islamic Republic accountable for its crimes against humanity through Mahsa Amini Human rights and Security Accountability Act (MAHSA Act), we stand by the large Iranian-American community of Washington State, demanding our representatives to support this bipartisan resolution.
Mahsa Amini died in police custody in Iran after being arrested for improper hijab. This brutal response by the Islamic Republic sparked protests across the country and the world.
The bipartisan MAHSA Act codifies sanctions on the Supreme Leader of Iran, the President of Iran, and the offices they oversee for their horrific track record of human rights abuses and support for terrorism. Specifically, the legislation requires the Executive Branch to determine sanctions under existing executive orders (E.O.). This includes E.O.13876 which sanctions the Iranian Supreme Leader’s Office and his inner circle, E.O. 13553 and E.O. 13818 which pertain to human rights abuses, and E.O. 13224 which pertains to counterterrorism.
The Iranian regime’s crackdown has resulted in several major human rights violations. These include engaging in the use of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment, and executing peaceful demonstrators including a number of children. Passing the MAHSA Act is a crucial step in holding the regime accountable for their actions.
VOI has been trying to amplify the voice of Iranian people who are fighting for their basic human rights and demanding regime change, and establishing a secular democracy in Iran. For this reason, VOI has regularly and constantly held rallies to increase social awareness in the society about the situation and demands of Iranian people.
VOI has met with many members of Congress and their staffs to help secure both Republican and Democrat cosponsors for the MAHSA Act. Additionally, VOI Civic Engagement Initiative is a new program committed to encouraging and enabling Iranian Americans to get involved as concerned members of their communities, both nationally and locally.
VOI extends appreciation to the members of Congress who have cosponsored the MAHSA Act, and we ask the remaining members to consider the importance of this legislation to their Iranian American constituents and to the people in Iran who continue to fight for their freedom. We must show them that we support their aspirations for democracy and human rights.
Please take a moment to send a message to your representative and ask them to cosponsor the MAHSA Act. Here is a direct link to find who your representative is.

This was an informative and evidence based article. Kudos to the VOI for promoting the passed of MAHSA Act.
Was there a link at the end of the article to help the reader to reach out to their US representative (their congressperson and 2 senators). If so, I didn’t see it.

As someone still navigating this field, I find your posts really helpful. My site is YW9 and I’d be happy to have some experts about Airport Transfer like you check it and provide some feedback.
My site UY8 covers a lot of topics about Thai-Massage and I thought we could greatly benefit from each other. Awesome posts by the way!
